Youth On Fire (YOF) is committed to the premise that everyone has the right to physical and mental wellness regardless of whether they are housed or not. We acknowledge the need for a youth specific safe space for homeless young adults (14-24 years old) to access a variety of harm reduction based services with as few barriers as possible. YOF believes that the elements of self-determination and empowerment are vital to gaining control over ones personal health. The YOF drop-in center was established in the fall of 2000 to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment for homeless and at-risk youth. YOF is open four days a week and serves young people between the ages of 14 and 24. Often the behaviors necessary to survive on the streets put these youth at a higher risk for contracting HIV.
