Newburyport Maritime Society operates two museums of maritime and boatbuilding history in the Merrimac River region of Massachusetts: The Customs House Maritime Museum in Newburyport and Lowell's Boat Shop in Amesbury. In addition to preserving buildings and collections from early American maritime history and presenting exhibitions the Society provides a variety of educational programs and keeps alive dory building skills and other traditional crafts.
