The AtlantiCare Foundation is a private nonprofit organization founded originally to help raise funds for the Atlantic City Medical Center (ACMC) and since 1993 working with an expanded mission to improve the health status and community capacity of the communities served by AtlantiCare. Improving health status translates into more than preventing illnesses but of improving the quality of life for the residents of Atlantic County located in southern New Jersey and including Atlantic City. Increasing community capacity strengthens the ability of the community to help solve its own problems. Both the Atlantic City Medical Center and the AtlantiCare Foundation are part of the AtlantiCare Health System
