919-688-7973 The Fair Trial Initiative (FTI) is dedicated to bringing new resources to capital trial defense and attacking the crisis of inadequate counsel offered to indigent defendants facing the death penalty. Our program started in North Carolina and has expanded to Virginia and Maryland. We provide fellowship opportunities and pro bono assistance to capital cases. Our law fellows have the opportunity to learn the art of capital defense while working a desperately needed resource to defense teams. Our mitigation fellows are provided with a structured entry point into the field of capital mitigation investigation.
