We are the South Memphis Alliance. Our Center is owned and operated by local neighborhood associations. The goal of SMA is to stimulate greater civic engagement among urban residents. It is our belief that true change comes from within. By providing support to neighborhood associations through educational services financial assistance and advocacy on issues of importance it is our mission to build an Urban Information Network that will aid in improving the interaction between residents and service providers. We strive to create better-informed residents who are able to take a more proactive role in improving their lives. SMA became a nonprofit agency in the fall 1999
