VISTAs at the Texas Department of Health (TDH) are working with local health departments to achieve Healthy People 2010 objectives. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services developed Healthy People 2010 as a set of health objectives for the nation. To achieve these objectives VISTAs goals are to: Work in communities to identify community assets and major gaps in resources. Collect and organize the gaps and assets data. Assist the community with choosing health priorities. Assist with the development of a comprehensive intervention plan. Evaluate and benchmark the progress. Activities for VISTAs to achieve these goals: Develop walking/biking maps with neighborhood associations
