For over 50 years the non-sectarian,community service organization, ---the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club --- has been dedicated to improving our local community and building a better America through fellowship. Membership is open to anyone who wants to help the community. This is why we truly are able to learn of and serve needs throughout the community. We meet for dinner monthly and discuss community service projects and usually have a short program regarding some aspect of our community given by an invited guest. In recent years we have raised funds amounting to around $20,000 annually to give to assist with needs throughout the community. Please see below for much more information about the club.

Volunteer Information:
Mount Tabor Rurian Club is always interested in people interested in community service. Our projects often require more manpower than just our club members can handle; so if individuals or groups (Scouts, fraternities, sororities, teams, church groups, families, businesses, etc., etc.) would like to help that would be great! Making over 300 gallons of apple butter from apples takes a lot of work with lots of hands! It is a lot of fun and you learn much about canning. Also, our monthly fish fries serve on average around 500 people in two hours; so we work fast and there are lots of hands needed. Both our apple butter and fish fry fund-raising operations have been going on for decades; so it is normal for us to help new people find a spot where the skills are very easy to learn and fun to do. Both projects show that we are a very good team and truly enjoy working together. Also, we are seeking people as new members, no matter what your age, race, creed, gender, taste in clothing, style of home, level of health, family style, etc. as long as you are willing to help others in the community as best you can. We have had family groups come assist with projects and, after seeing what we do and how well we work together, the older children and parents have joined the club and come to our monthly dinner meetings. Many retirees who just moved to the area find us a great place to meet people and learn about the community. This is a great place for newly empty nesters to come before they get out of the groove of participating in the community because their children's activities no longer drive their social schedule. If you are in poor health or have little stamina, likely we can find something you can do that will contribute to the community. Please let us know you are interested. We have never met someone who was not capable of contributing in some way. Ruritan is a wonderful group where the young learn so many skills from the more experienced and then become the hands doing what the older can no longer do as easily. We are a big extended family. Ruritan is full of people who care about each other as well as the rest of the community. Please contact us and come check us out.
Donation Information:
We do appreciate donations. Also, if you join us for a one time event or as a member, you will learn what other organizations, individuals, projects, etc. in the area need financial, man/woman power, and in-kind support. The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club is full of people representing so many different facets of our community that you are bound to find out that your offered assets, not just dollars, can be put to good use. If you make a flat out cash donation to Mount Tabor Ruritan Club, you can be sure that it will be stretched as far as possible to do the most good. Thanks in advance for thinking about helping others by sharing what you can.
