Rising Out Of The Shadows (ROOTS) has two primary programs: Friday Feast and the Young Adult Shelter. University Temple United Methodist Church incorporated ROOTS as a 501(c)(3) in August 2000. University Temple created this organization in order to support and expand its local mission programs serving homeless and street involved youth and young adults. In April 2002 Shalom Zone amended its By Laws and expanded its Board of Directors in order to transition from a church-based organization to a community-based organization founded in faith.
